#can i please direct everyone who treats john watson like a ‘precious fine thing’ to this conversation. #because guess what people mycroft is not wrong. #john watson does not need you to feel sorry for him and protect him from big bad sherlock holmes and his bag of evil tricks. #john watson did not fall into this. #john watson was not tricked into this lifestyle. #when john watson walks with sherlock holmes he sees the battlefield #and that’s what he wants. #when we first met john #in his first meeting with his therapist #he says ‘nothing ever happens to me’ #and he doesn’t want his life to be like that #he doesn’t want tea parties and harrods and a psychosomatic limp #he likes the craziness that comes with sherlock #the heart-pounding gut-wrenching curveballs that he constantly gets thrown #this is exactly what he wants. #he is not precious. #he is not a child. #he was a soldier! he had bad days. #john watson: better than you #john watson: not a teddy bear #john watson: bad ass mother fucker #john watson: more than jam and jumpers

#can these tags manifest as an actual physical being so that I can pat them on the back and buy them a pint #can this happen? #he’s not a fragile little china teacup #or a hedgehog in a sweater with a love for jam #this might seem hypocritical considering my feelings toward the scene in baskerville where sherlock drugs and tricks him #but that was related to how sherlock went about it #with complete disregard for what he was doing to his ‘only friend’ #it was that and the fact that it was treated as comic relief that irked me #just to be clear #but watson is just such a bloody strong character and that is exactly why I admire him #the scene at the end of reichenbach only highlights this #he has his moment at the grave and then gets himself in order #he pulls himself together and carries on #he’s still sad yes #but he holds himself together #and theories that suggest that he would hide away in the flat crying and not functioning as an individual after losing his best friend #are out of character #and I am just so infuriatingly interested in what we’re going to see at the start of season 3 #the prospect of sherlock and john reunion is so exciting I just
